MICROCLINE   Folsom Brook locality, Ossipee, NH
7 cm specimen with Miller index face labels.

Species:           MICROCLINE
Locality:          Folsom Brook locality, Ossipee, NH
Specimen Size: 7 cm specimen with Miller index face labels.
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer
Catalog No.: 399
Notes: Markers with crystal face indicies have been applied to this specimen, (hopefully correctly!). Large microcline crystals are good subjects for face index studies.

MICROCLINE - (perthitic)   Wheeler Mtn., Winchester, NH
12 cm single microcline crystal.

Species:           MICROCLINE -(perthitic)
Locality:          Wheeler Mtn., Winchester, NH
Specimen Size: 12 cm single microcline crystal.
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer
Catalog No.: 1281
Notes: From a contact metamorphic environment. A XRD analysis indicates a mix 65% microcline, 35% albite, Ca rich. I considered sanidine.... but a follow-up correlation of the XRD data with sanidine was not very good. Typical perthite lamina on this crystal are visible under my stereo scope... with the lighting just right, but only on the broken backside, not on crystal faces. Photos of nice euhedral perthite crystals (e.g on mindat) are rare.
